About Stirling Esse

Twenty years ago, Stirling Esse walked into ImprovBoston looking for a hosting class. They didn't have one. So she made herself one.

What followed was 20+ years of stand-up, improv, hosting, and figuring out exactly what comics need to grow — the kind of real, honest feedback you can only get from someone who's been in the trenches. She became the first woman to host one of Boston's longest-running weekly open mics, appeared on WGBH's "Stories to the Stage," co-founded the 50+ improv group Elderberry Jam, and has co-hosted the March Madness comedy contest for the Brain & Behavioral Research Foundation for several years running.

She built SASSY because after the class ends, the real work begins — and nobody should have to figure that out alone.
